Promotion of Early Childhood Education:
Brydges Centre realises the importance of early childhood education and has converted its drop-in centres in Dandora here in Nairobi and also Bungoma in Western Kenya into school centres.
The centres now offer early childhood education to needy children in some of the poorer communities here in Kenya. The education offered is of high quality with trained teachers at each centre. Brydges Centre does not restrict other children from the community benefiting from the schools and encourages community contribution in running and management of the schools in their respective provinces. Each school (known as a pre-school to the local communities) is scheduled to run for half days and includes a meal provided to each student, every day.
One school is on a rented premises, while the second is situated on land owned by Brydges Centre. We are currently in the process of aquiring the Dandora property. Through donation we have been able to raise 300,000Ksh, leaving us with a balance of 500,000Ksh to clear before we can take ownership of the property. Thanks to the donor who has enabled us to place the deposit. Contact us here if you would like more information about Dandora or donating to help us raise the remaining balance.
We are looking forward to purchasing additional properties in the near future to enable construction of additional buildings and to grow our early childhood education programs, and as we currently have over 100 pupils in attendance this is of a high priority for the benefit of the poorer communities around Kenya.
