What is the Brydges Centre and what do we do?
Brydges Centre is an institution that takes care of vulnerable children in Kenya, particularly the orphaned, homeless and impoverished throughout Kenya. The Centre provides shelter, food and education to these children. The Centre has three branches, two in Ngong Hills about an hour south of Nairobi which provide boarding and support for needy children. The third branch of the Centre is located in Western Kenya in the district of Bungoma which houses and cares for the male youths that are taken into our programs.
In total the centres in Ngong have over 65 children under their care, with 18 youths located in the Western Kenya centre.
At Brydges Centre we face many challenges in our mission to provide the children with a stable and supportive home. These include:
- Paying rent for the childrens home accommodation and Centre property.
- Insufficient funds to facilitate day-to-day operations of the Centres and staff allowances.
- Educational needs such as school uniforms, school fees and other learning materials that each child so desperately needs to return to school each term.
- Land for further Brydges facilities, construction of these facilities, and to help facilitate future income generating activities.
- Building and construction of new dormitories and classrooms.
Children in difficult situations should not be denied the opportunity for quality education. All of our children are in school, from nursery school through to University, and we hope to raise all of our children that come into our care to be responsible and make a difference in their local communities.
The Centre operates on the kindness of donations and sponsorship which allow us to sustain all of the programs undertaken at our centres. The well-wishers of Brydges Centre thank you in advance for any kind donations, prayers or support that you can provide to assist with the development of the children under our care.
